ATCOMThe first commercial offering of the EM Photonics image processing division is ATCOM (Atmospheric Compensation), a family of products aimed at helping customers dealing with atmospheric blurring over long ranges. The principle of operation behind these video and image processing engines is the bispectrum averaging speckle method, developed and successfully tested over the years at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. The original algorithm has been substantially accelerated and wrapped with a friendly GUI for the desktop version, and encased in ruggedized platforms for field deployment. We also design and test integrated imaging systems based on ATCOM technology. Read below for more details on our desktop, portable, and system-level ATCOM solutions. SoftwareEM Photonics provides a low cost, entry level version of ATCOM software designed to run on a standard desktop computer. Since there is no hardware acceleration, this software is not capable of running the complex atmospheric compensation code at real time speeds. This software was designed to process video that has been recorded and saved by an external source. Our software version includes an intuitive graphical interface where users can change optical, atmospheric, and processing parameters.
GPU AcceleratedAlso available is a GPU accelerated version of our software ATCOM offering. Using commodity graphics cards, the atmospheric compensation algorithm can be accelerated to process standard definition video at near real time speeds. This allows for a solution that is useful for live video monitoring applications and batch processing of previously recorded videos. This implementation of our ATCOM software uses the same convenient user interface found in the software version.
Embedded GPU AcceleratedIn addition to our desktop GPU accelerated solution, we also offers a rugged, portable implementation of our ATCOM software. Using a custom designed embedded GPU system, EM Photonics engineers have developed a solution capable of processing live video input at a high rate of processing.
Embedded FPGA AcceleratedFor those customers who need to run the atmospheric compensation algorithm at real-time speeds, our engineers have developed an FPGA implementation of our ATCOM software that can run at real time processing speeds. Additionally, since this product runs on an FPGA, we offer this solution in a man-portable, rugged solution that is ideal for field deployment or integration with existing optics systems.
Integrated SystemsBased on customer input, EM Photonics can provide additional services related to our ATCOM software. We have experience integrating our solutions with existing optical assemblies. Our design team can also provide custom integration solutions related to video archival, surveillance equipment, and long range optical assembly.
