A suite of products for combating the distortion caused by
atmospheric turbulence.
Numerous imaging applications require seeing through long stretches of atmosphere, from military vehicles to astronomical observatories. Atmospheric turbulence along the imaging path blurs and warps images even with state-of-the-art lenses and cameras. The ATCOM family of products is a set of algorithms and hardware implementations, developed in conjunction with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, offering image processing solutions to the atmospheric turbulence problem.
The quality of images and videos taken at long ranges (>0.5 km) is severely reduced by atmospheric effects. Several solutions exist, but the bispectrum speckle imaging method is widely regarded as the performance benchmark in this field. We have teamed with LLNL to develop accelerated versions of this algorithm; our team has demonstrated results with a variety of sensor types, wavelengths, optical setups, and target ranges.
ATCOM is available in multiple form factors to meet the diverse needs of different organizations. If atmospheric turbulence is a limitation in your particular application, please contact us to determine how ATCOM can help
