EM Photonics is an industry leader in using commodity hardware devices to accelerated numerical computations. Spawning from our work developing modeling and simulation tools, EM Photonics has built the technologies necessary to accelerate computationally intense tasks without the use of supercomputers or large PC clusters. Through novel use of FPGA, DSP, and graphics-card technology, EM Photonics is able to create compact, hardware-based systems capable of incredible computational speeds. This allows us to create accelerated workstations capable of replacing massive PC clusters and supercomputers.

Their exceptional performance, coupled with a low price driven by a mass market, has motivated application of these devices to scientific computing, image processing, data mining, visualization, and financial applications.

EM Photonics has continually followed the state of the art in Graphics Processor programming. Our GPU accelerated solutions have provided from 25x to 100x speedup over traditional software solutions.

Celerity FPGA Board

Most computer systems are built using general-purpose microprocessors, which makes them capable of performing a variety of functions. This generality allows these processors to cater to the various needs of many users. Unfortunately, this results in machines that are extremely slow for computing high-performance applications. To meet the demands of high-performance computing, EM Photonics has created the Celerity™ Acceleration Board.

The Celerity Acceleration Board is a low power, custom-designed acceleration card that plugs into the PCI slot of a standard computer. Tremendous speedups over currently available solutions are possible because the card can be reprogrammed to suit each application's specific needs.

Cell BE Processor

The Cell Processor™ is a next generation hybridized multi-core processor design that was the product of a collaborative effort between Sony, Toshiba, and IBM.
